bretforton village proms
Following the band's centenary in 1995 the band decided to hold a free outdoor 'Last Night of the Proms' concert as a means of thanking local people for their support of the band for over 100 years.
The first Proms concert was in 1999 and the band were amazed by the numbers of past and present villagers who attended and had such a wonderful evening that the band felt compelled to make it an annual event.
Over the years this yearly summer spectacular has featured many diverse acts including pop, rock, classical and musical theatre. The evening reaches a climax with the band performing a selection of the Last Night of the Proms favourites, concluding with a spectacular firework display.
The event took a break in 2020 due to Covid, and returned with a Virtual Proms in 2021, followed by a village Platinum Jubilee Proms in 2022.
During this time the band put much thought into how to secure the future of the proms while complying with ever changing licence requirements.

It was decided it was time to form a Bretforton Village Proms Committee, who now oversee the organisation of the event.
The main change has been a new location to accommodate safely the thousands of people who come together and to give more space for fireworks. So, the proms has returned to where it started at the village recreation ground, and the band are delighted to continue to support and perform at this event.
The yearly event remains free, so dust off your picnic tables and chairs and come and join us for an enjoyable evening in July!
